Descripción
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide developed as an analogue of tuftsin, a naturally occurring immunomodulatory peptide. Unlike classical anxiolytic compounds that act directly on benzodiazepine receptors, Selank has been investigated for its ability to modulate several neurochemical systems involved in stress adaptation and emotional regulation, while preserving cognitive performance.
Over the past two decades, Selank has become one of the best-known research peptides in neuropharmacology, with published work exploring anxiety-related behaviour, stress responses, memory, learning, neuroprotection and immune-neural interactions. Compared with Semax, which is primarily associated with cognitive enhancement and neurotrophic signalling, Selank is more commonly investigated for anxiety regulation with preserved mental clarity.
Why Selank matters in neuroscience research
One of Selank’s distinguishing characteristics is that it has been investigated for its ability to influence emotional regulation without the marked sedation typically associated with classical anxiolytics. This has made it an important research model for studying the relationship between anxiety, cognition and neurochemical signalling.
Published research has investigated Selank in relation to:
- anxiety and stress regulation
- cognitive performance
- learning and memory, including under stress
- GABAergic signalling
- serotonin and dopamine modulation
- neuroprotection
- immune-neural communication
- emotional resilience and regulation
Because anxiety and cognitive performance are closely interconnected, Selank has attracted interest in both neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience research. This dual profile has made Selank one of the most recognised neuropeptides in research examining how emotional state influences cognition. Rather than acting as a conventional stimulant, Selank is generally investigated for supporting cognitive performance through modulation of stress-related neurobiology.
How Selank works
Unlike compounds that primarily target a single receptor, Selank appears to influence several interconnected neurochemical systems.
Published research has explored its relationship with:
- GABAergic signalling
Experimental studies suggest Selank may modulate GABAergic neurotransmission, contributing to its investigation in anxiety-related research.
- Monoamine regulation
Research has examined interactions with serotonin and dopamine pathways involved in mood, motivation and cognitive processing.
- Neuroplasticity
Laboratory studies have explored changes in gene expression and neuronal signalling associated with learning and memory processes.
- Immune-neural communication
Because Selank is derived from tuftsin, researchers have also investigated its relationship with immune regulation and neuroimmune interactions.
Investigación humana y preclínica
Compared with many research peptides, Selank has a relatively unusual evidence base that includes both laboratory studies and clinical investigations, primarily originating from Russia. Human studies have examined Selank in anxiety-related disorders, while preclinical research has explored mechanisms involving GABAergic signalling, neurotransmitter regulation, neuroplasticity and immune modulation.
Although these findings have generated continued scientific interest, much of the published clinical literature remains regional, and additional large international studies would be needed to expand the evidence base.
What makes Selank different from other cognitive peptides?
Selank
- Stress regulation research
- Anxiety models
- GABAergic modulation
- Emotional resilience
- Cognitive performance under stress
- Neurotrophic signalling
- Learning and memory
- Attention and cognitive performance
- BDNF-related research
- Sleep physiology
- Stress adaptation
- Neuroendocrine regulation
Although these peptides are often grouped within cognitive research, they represent distinct areas of neuroscience rather than interchangeable compounds.
Published safety observations
Published clinical investigations have generally described Selank as having favourable tolerability within the studied populations. Unlike classical benzodiazepines, published studies have investigated Selank because it may influence anxiety-related processes without the sedation, dependence or withdrawal profile typically associated with that drug class, although the available evidence remains considerably smaller than for established anxiolytic medications.

Selank is supplied as a lyophilised vial and should be handled using standard peptide reconstitution procedures appropriate to the research setting. Must be reconstituted with agua bacteriostática or sterile saline before use. To help preserve structural integrity, add the chosen solvent slowly against the inside wall of the vial rather than directly onto the peptide cake, and avoid vigorous shaking. Gentle swirling is generally sufficient once the peptide has fully dissolved. Standard laboratory practice also includes allowing refrigerated vials to reach room temperature before reconstitution to minimise condensation inside the vial.

Preguntas Frecuentes
What is Selank?
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from the naturally occurring immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin. It is primarily investigated in neuroscience research related to anxiety, stress regulation, emotional processing and cognitive function.
How does Selank differ from Semax?
Although both belong to the cognitive peptide category, their primary research focus differs. Selank is mainly investigated in anxiety and stress-related models, whereas Semax is more commonly studied for attention, learning, memory and neurotrophic signalling. Their mechanisms and research applications are complementary rather than identical.
Why is Selank widely investigated for anxiety research?
Published laboratory and clinical studies have explored Selank because it appears to influence GABAergic and monoaminergic signalling involved in stress adaptation and emotional regulation. Researchers have also examined whether cognitive performance can be maintained during anxiety-related conditions.
Does Selank act like a benzodiazepine?
No. Published research suggests Selank does not share the same primary mechanism as classical benzodiazepines. Instead, it has been investigated for indirect modulation of GABA-related signalling together with broader effects on neurotransmitter systems and gene expression.
What research areas commonly investigate Selank?
Published studies have investigated Selank in relation to anxiety, stress physiology, emotional regulation, learning, memory, neuroplasticity, immune-neural signalling and cognitive performance under stress.
¿Está este producto destinado al uso humano?
No. Selank supplied by LIFE Peptide is provided strictly for laboratory and analytical research. It is not intended for human consumption, diagnosis, treatment or prevention of disease. Any discussion of published studies summarises the current scientific literature relating to the Selank molecule rather than the intended use of this product.
